Why Pre-Purchase Inspection Is Essential in Dubai
Dubai's used car market is one of the most active in the world β and one of the least regulated. Private sellers have no obligation to disclose accident history, and many don't. Cars are frequently repainted to hide accident damage, odometers are sometimes wound back, and cars originally imported with different specifications can be made to look locally compliant. A professional pre-purchase inspection from a neutral third party is the only reliable way to know what you're actually buying.
The paint meter (also called a paint thickness gauge) is our most powerful tool. Factory paint has consistent thickness β typically 80β150 microns depending on the manufacturer. Filler used in collision repairs is typically much thicker, often 300β600 microns in the repaired area. A paint meter check of every body panel takes about 20 minutes and immediately reveals which panels have been repaired, how extensively, and whether structural components were involved. No seller can hide this.
Mechanical inspection under a ramp reveals damage and wear that's completely invisible from outside the car: chassis damage, suspension wear, oil leaks, corrosion on structural members, and signs of off-road use. We also perform a full OBD2 scan of all control modules β a healthy used car typically has zero stored fault codes. Multiple codes in the ABS, SRS or transmission modules tell a story about the car's history that the exterior never will.
After the inspection we provide a written digital report with photographs of every issue found, a clear assessment of severity (cosmetic / maintenance / safety), and an honest recommendation: buy, negotiate or avoid. Many of our clients have saved tens of thousands of dirhams by using this report to negotiate the price down, or to walk away from a car that would have cost far more to repair than the asking price difference.
How We Diagnose & Fix the Problem
We scan every body panel with a calibrated paint thickness gauge and map the results. Any panel reading significantly above factory specification indicates a previous repair β we record exactly which panels and by how much.
On the ramp, we inspect the chassis, subframes, suspension components, exhaust system and underside for signs of accident damage, corrosion, fluid leaks and improper repairs. Photos are taken of everything notable.
We scan every available control module β engine, transmission, ABS, SRS airbag, body control, TPMS β for stored fault codes. The presence and nature of codes often reveals the car's history more honestly than any seller.
We check engine oil quality and level, coolant condition, brake fluid moisture, transmission fluid colour and all belt/hose condition. We run the engine to operating temperature and check for coolant leaks, exhaust smoke and unusual noises.
We compile all findings into a digital report with photographs, organised by severity. We give you a clear written recommendation and β if relevant β an estimate of what the issues would cost to fix, so you have real numbers for negotiation.
What Our Inspection Covers
Services Offered
- Engine & Transmission Condition β fluid levels and quality assessed, engine started from cold and warmed up, gearbox shift quality evaluated under load
- Chassis & Structural Integrity Check β chassis rails, floor pan and suspension towers inspected for bends, cracks, welds and signs of major accident repair
- Accident & Repaint Detection β paint thickness measured across every panel to identify previously repaired or resprayed areas invisible to the naked eye
- Paint Thickness Measurement β digital gauge readings taken at multiple points per panel and compared to factory thickness tolerances
- Brake & Suspension Assessment β pad and disc wear measured, shock absorbers bounce-tested, steering components checked for play and wear
- AC & Cooling Performance Test β refrigerant pressure checked, outlet temperature measured, cooling fan operation and thermostat function verified
What We Check
- Full electrical & sensor diagnostics β OBD scan across all modules; stored, pending and historical fault codes reviewed and explained
- Tyre tread & wheel condition β tread depth measured on all four tyres, uneven wear patterns noted as indicators of alignment or suspension issues
- Interior condition & electronics β all switches, windows, mirrors, infotainment and climate controls tested; seats, trim and headliner examined
- Undercarriage & fluid leak check β underside inspected on ramp for oil, coolant, brake fluid and transmission leaks, and for corrosion or damage
- Flood & rust damage inspection β carpet, sill plates, spare wheel well and boot floor checked for water ingress staining and hidden corrosion
- Full written inspection report β every system rated pass, advisory or fail with supporting notes; photos included for any flagged findings
Know Exactly What You're Buying
Accident Detection
We check paint thickness across every panel, look for body filler, overspray, replaced panels and structural repair signs β the things that are invisible during a test drive but that significantly affect a car's safety and resale value.
Full Written Report
You receive a detailed written report covering every system we inspected, with clear pass, advisory and fail ratings so you can make a fully informed decision. Photos are included for every flagged item so you can see exactly what we found.
Negotiating Power
Armed with our report, you can negotiate the price based on real findings β concrete evidence of wear, faults or previous repairs that justify a lower offer. Or walk away from a bad deal before it costs you thousands in hidden repairs.
We Come to the Car
We can inspect the vehicle at the seller's location β a dealership, private address or parking lot anywhere in Dubai. You don't need to move the car. WhatsApp us the details and we'll coordinate everything around your schedule.
